Mission Statement
Our mission is to meet our community's need for lasting remembrance through quality facilities, services and commemorative tributes and memorials. Whatever we achieve, we achieve by focusing on the needs of the community with compassion, respect and understanding.

Our History
In 1995, The Cheltenham and Regional Cemeteries Trust saw the need for a new style of memorial park in the Dandenong region and the idea of Bunurong was born.
Purchasing 120 hectares of land in amongst established farms and market gardens, the Trust set about creating a beautiful and tranquil landscape encompassing lakes, rock gardens, waterfalls and lush grassy plains. The light-filled and unobtrusive buildings were designed by architect, Peter Ross, to blend with the natural environment.
Today, the Park is comprised of many memorial gardens, a mausoleum, the Weeroona Chapel and the Condolence Lounges with more developments in the pipeline, such as multi-denominational churches and temples, to ensure that Bunurong evolves with the community it serves.
The facility is owned and operated by The Cheltenham & Regional Cemeteries Trust, a group of voluntary trustees, who have been responsible for the good name of Cheltenham Cemetery since 1865 and the running of Cheltenham Memorial Park since 1933.

The Trustees
We're a part of your community
Every member of the community is a stakeholder in Bunurong Memorial Park. Since 1996, the cemetery has been owned and operated by the voluntary trustees of the Cheltenham & Regional Cemetery Trust on behalf of the community.
The Trust has served the public since 1865, including among its responsibilities the Cheltenham Pioneer Cemetery and Cheltenham Memorial Park.

The Staff
Bunurong Memorial Park is run by a team of people, who are more like a family than an organisation.
Our staff of caring professionals shares years of experience in organising memorials and advising on all aspects of burial or cremation.
Our office is open Monday to Friday 8:30am to 5:00pm and Saturdays 10:00am to 3:00pm, please feel free to call or drop in to make an appointment to discuss your needs or any concerns you may have.
As a member of the Australasian Cemeteries & Crematoria Association, you can trust our staff to honour a strict code of ethics and practice.
